Kemet Diamond Abrasives

Kemet International is one of the world's leading manufacturers of Diamond Abrasive Products used in research and industry. The wide range of standard formulations include liquids, pastes, suspensions, gels and sticks. Our laboratories have over 50 years experience and have developed special formulations for most lapping and polishing processes. These range from basic hand lapping operations to fully automatic double sided lapping systems.

Standard Kemet Liquid Diamond Products

Kemet Liquid Diamond is normally supplied in units of 400g, 2000g or 2500g, from 1/10 micron to 90 Micron. Concentrations are standard, strong or extra strong. Special micron sizes, formulae, colour coding and other packaging sizes for specific applications are available.

Type K

An excellent, general purpose, low viscosity oil/water emulsion suitable for most applications.

Type WA

Water soluble Liquid Diamond, recommended where lapping/polishing must be carried out in the absence of oil based materials.

Type O

Low viscosity oil soluble Liquid Diamond with enhanced cleaning properties. Used on components where there is a risk of corrosion.

Excellent for dual face Lapping and Metallographic application. Available in various viscosities.

Kemet Lubricating Fluids

Lubricating Fluid to be used with Kemet Diamond Slurry and Diamond Paste

	Assists Kemet Diamond Products to cut and polish more effectively by absorbing frictional heat and diluting the lapping residue.
	Lubricant performance remains stable even when under high pressure.
	Manufactured from high purity chemicals

Type W Lubricating Fluid
Water soluble - A low viscosity water based fluid developed for use with Types KD and W Kemet Diamond Compound. Recommended for use on all Kemet Polishing Cloths as it helps to extend their life.

Type W2 Lubricating Fluid
Water soluble - A low viscosity water based fluid developed for use with Kemet Diamond Suspensions.

Type OS Lubricating Fluid
Oil soluble - A low viscosity oil based lubricant primarily for use with Kemet Diamond Compounds such as Types KD and L. Recommended when polishing tooling, moulds and similar components.

Type LS Lubricating Fluid
Oil soluble - A low viscosity fluid soluble in oil and emulsifiable in water. For use with Kemet Diamond Compounds and Liquid Diamond, particularly where components need to undergo a water based cleaning operation after lapping.

Type K Lubricating Fluid
Oil soluble - For use with Kemet Liquid Diamond on Kemet Flat Lapping Systems. Assists smooth running of the lapping operation and helps to ensure a cleaner process.

Non-Diamond (conventional) Abrasives

Kemet Grinding / Lapping Paste

To complement our Diamond Product range, Kemet also manufacture non-diamond grinding and lapping pastes. Silicon carbide and aluminium oxide pastes are available in 1kg containers in a wide range of Grit sizes.

The main advantages of Kemet grinding pastes include:-

• Water soluble (environmentally friendly) and safe when handled.
• User Friendly - fast and effective cutting.
• Strictly manufactured to ISO 9001:2000 Quality standards - MSDS supplied.

Only finely graded abrasives used. Kemet Lapping pastes have many applications but are particularly suited to the lapping of mechanical seals and valve seats.

Kemox Suspension treated abrasive slurry

Where the abrasive and carrier are pre-mixed in the correct proportions, resulting in a cleaner and more efficient lapping process. Recommended for redressing and reconditioning Kemet or Cast Iron Lapping Plates. Kemet recommend Kemox O-400 for faster conditioning.

Abrasive Powders

Kemet supply abrasive powders such as aluminium oxide and silicon carbide in wide range of Grit sizes in 5kg or 25 kg containers.

Col-K Polishing Suspension

A Liquid polish used on Kemet CHEM Cloth to produce the ultimate in high quality mirror polishes on polishing machines. A part abrasive, part chemical polishing action makes COL-K well suited to polishing difficult materials such as Stellite and Cobalt Chrome.

Col-K (NC) Polishing Suspension

A non-crystallising chemo mechnical polishing suspension, Col-K(NC) is available in 30 litres containers.

Lapping Oil

Universal lapping oil (No.3 lapping oil) is available in 25 or 205 litres for mixing with convential abrasives powders. Alternatively we sell premixed, Kemox suspension treated abrasive slurry.
