Kemet Diamond Flat Lapping machines and Kemet Conventional Flat Lapping machines are precision built machines, and are built strictly to the latest EEC standards.
Kemet lapping machine are available in fixed and variable speed either open face or pneumatic lift. Others are available upon request.
Kemet 15 lapping machine
The bench-mounted Kemet 15 Lapping Machine has a rigid metal construction with a height-adjustable worktable. The machine incorporates a digital Process Timer and a fully automatic Liquid Diamond Dispensing System.

Kemet 20 lapping machine
The Kemet 20 (508mm Plate Diameter) is a bench mounted Lapping machine of heavy duty carbon steel weldment base with wrap-around worktable. It incorporates a digital process timer and a fully automatic Liquid Diamond Dispenser System. It has three adjustable conditioning rings (191mm I.D.) with roller yoke and bearing assemblies.

Kemet 24 lapping machine
The Kemet 24 has a rigid welded tubular section steel frame, which supports the gearbox, drive motor and worktable. It houses an integral abrasive compound feed and waste tank positioned behind lift-off access panels.

Kemet 36 Lapping machine
The Kemet 36 has a rigid welded tubular section steel frame, which supports the gearbox, drive motor and worktable. It also houses an integral abrasive compound feed and waste tank behind lift-off panels. The machine incorporates a soft starting feature, which smoothly accelerates the lapping plate from stand still to full speed, over a pre-determined time period.

Kemet 48 lapping machine
The Kemet 48 Lapping Machine is equipped with a 48 inch (1219mm) diameter serrated lap plate. The lap plate consists of 16 cast iron individual segments bolted to a support plate.
The lap plate drive system uses a separate motor and worm and wheel mechanical reduction gearbox with multi-belt drive, and is mounted in a floor standing base. This is a fabricated steel channel framework with panels, easily removed for ease of access during maintenance. It has four high density cast iron serrated conditioning rings (432mm I.D.). It incorporates a digital process timer and a fully automatic Liquid Diamond Dispenser System.

Kemet 56 lapping machine
The Kemet 56 Lapping Machine is equipped with a 56 inch (1422mm) diameter serrated lap plate. The lap plate consists of 24 cast iron individual segments bolted to a support plate.
The lap plate drive system uses a separate motor and worm and wheel mechanical reduction gearbox with multi-belt drive, and is mounted in a floor standing base. The base is fabricated from welded hollow-section steel, clad with removable panels for maintenance
It has four high density cast iron serrated conditioning rings (530mm I.D.). It incorporates a digital process timer and a fully automatic Liquid Diamond Dispenser System.

Kemet 72 lapping machine
The Kemet 72 Lapping Machine is equipped with a 72 inch (1829mm) diameter serrated lap plate. The lap plate consists of 16 cast iron individual segments bolted to a support plate.
The lapping machine uses a cruciform shaped structural base. The mechanical reduction gearbox is mounted at the centre of the base, with drive motor to one side. Drive is transmitted via multiple vee belts, and the moving parts of the system are enclosed within a mesh guard
It has four cast iron serrated conditioning rings (692mm I.D.). It incorporates a digital process timer and a fully automatic Liquid Diamond Dispenser System.

Kemet 84 lapping machine
The Kemet 84 lapping machine is equipped with a 84 inch (2132mm) diameter non-hardened cast alloy segmental lap plate, 125mm thick. The lap plate consists of 16 cast iron individual segments, which are bolted to the support plate to form a serrated plate. This design minimises lapping plate deflection under load and maximises axial support for achieving very tight flatness and parallelism specifications.
The Kemet 84 is a 4 ring lapping machine built on a cruciform shaped structural steel base. The mechanical reduction gearbox and motor are mounted to the side of the plate. Power is transmitted via a flat belt and the moving parts of the system are enclosed within a panel-clad base.
It has four cast iron serrated conditioning rings (813mm I.D.). It incorporates a digital process timer and a fully automatic Liquid Diamond Dispenser System.

Kemet Spherical Lapping and Polishing Machine
Current buffing processes used to polish spherical balls and cups can detrimentally effect the roundness. Current machines used to polish spherical balls and cups have between 10-20% failure rate. The machine and process developed at Kemet International produces a mirror polish, holds geometry and can correct these failures while maintaining roundness down to 2 microns. The whole process takes less than 9 minutes.
The system can be used on most materials including ceramic, natural metals and alloyed metals. Applications include

There are only 2 steps to obtain a mirror polish starting with a machine ground spherical ball or cup. These are:-
